Great House of Music-Dance and Accordion Duo
We are Mark and Helena Greathouse, an International Husband-Wife Duo of musician/composer and singer/dancer-Mark from Portland, Oregon and Helena from Prague, Czech Republic. We present a vibrant and varied program of lyrical melody, song, and dance in several languages. Helena explains the content of each song if it is not sung in English. Some of our pieces are very familiar while others are older and may not have been performed in America. To help clarify, she also explains the cultural background of some songs. We offer a unique program of choices including ethnic, jazz and swing, oldies from the 30′s and 40′s, vaudeville, selections from musicals, modern and traditional songs as well as Mark’s own songs. Our program is usually divided into segments and Helena wears costumes to match the genre. For example, she sings and dances some selections in authentic folklore costumes from Eastern Europe to Mark’s accordion accompaniment. We always present new musical material when we return to the same facility! **Also, we are happy to tailor an event to suit your occasion-Holidays, Birthdays, a special theme, etc. We already have programs perfect for Christmas, New Years, 4th of July, Memorial Day and Veterans Day!
We are based in the Portland/Vancouver area, and are available to travel further if expenses reimbursed.
