Poets Get Inspired! Poetry classes with Joan Dobbie

Find your Creative Voice! My poetry has been quite widely published in anthologies including Looking for Home: Poets write about Exile, which won an American book award, and in many small press publications. My poems have won several prizes. Each year Chuck Eyers publishes something of mine as his Holiday Card. Most recently, two of my poems appeared in the anthology: LOVE AFTER SEVENTY, Wising Up Press, Decatur, Georgia. Aside from publishing student poems through my own The Unforgettables Press, I am co-editor of BEFORE WE HAVE NOWHERE TO STAND, Israel/Palestine: Poets Respond to the Struggle, a poetry anthology that strives for understanding in the Middle East. BEFORE WE HAVE NOWHERE TO STAND has been accepted for publication by Lost Horse Press, Idaho, and will come out in Spring, 2011. I have a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and many years experience presenting poetry immersion workshops. I believe you can save someone’s life with a poem they’ve never seen, contact someone in a far distant place, touch someone you knew long ago, or never met. You can meet with and commune with your own child self, experience the future, speak with your father, even after he’s died. I believe if you’re absolutely true to yourself in your writing, the path of poetry can be the path into that place where you’re no longer alone, because everyone else, in their truest place, is there too.

Donn Rochlin-Pianist and Speaker

Donn Rochlin is a pianist, composer (with a CD to his credit), speaker and author. As a musician, Donn loves to perform his original compositions at your facility or event. His programs include plenty of audience interaction as he shares his inspirations for the music he has written. Also, he improvises, and asks audience members to come up with names for pieces based on their impressions! Donn also plays some enjoyable standards.

Donn has performed, presented keynote addresses and seminars in over 60 cities since 1993. He has also worked as Musical Director for several Theater Companies and was the founder of the Ashland School of Music in Ashland, Oregon. *In addition to performing and speaking, Donn teaches a unique method of piano called “Just For Fun!” and holds one-day workshops. “Learn to play your favorite songs in just one session!”

“I just had the pleasure of having Donn Rochlin At Village Health Care today and he is very good with interacting with the residents And plays a variety of music and he is funny! We really enjoyed having him here and the residents told him to come back soon!”
