Reliving Radio! Return with us to those thrilling days of Radio’s Golden Age. Tour host Dick Karman brings the sounds and memories to you. The Way Radio Was while bringing back memories and magic from the 20′s, 30′s, 40′s and 50′s, sets up in your dining room, activity hall, or church. When he’s entertaining, you’ll hear clips of Jack Benny, FDR, Our Miss Brooks, Suspense, Edward R. Murrow, Johnny Dollar and dozens more. Hear and remember advertisements from radios early years, from Perfect Circle Piston Rings, to Jello Tapioca Pudding, Yes Siree!. With sound bites and stories about radio personalities, news and entertainment, your host has assembled special shows for Christmas, Veterans Day, 4th of July and Valentines Day. Your residents all will remember Pearl Harbor Day, VE day and the day the Hindenburg crashed at the mooring mast. Whether the Way Radio Was focuses on a holiday or just transports your residents out of the winter dull drums, Reliving Radio makes every day a special event.
Special memories are always accompanied by special music. Don’t miss the best music in the last century in the Way Radio Was. You can have Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, Artie Shaw and Spike Jones, or you can have request patriotic music from Tex Beneke, Jo Stafford, Dinah Shore, and Johnny Mercer. It can be center stage or background for your open house, Senior “sock hop”, special banquet, or outdoor event..
The Way Radio Was entertains elder audiences with one hour morning or afternoon presentations and at evening shows that accompany dinner parties (complete with 30′s and 40′s dance music!). The Way Radio Was delights audiences with the memories, emotion and music of days gone by, and is different every time it comes to your facility.
There is always “picture show” of radio personalities and sponsors that keep the attention of the audience while helping folks remember the Way Radio Was! Some churches use Reliving Radio to be the theme for their “senior Saint” events with a spiritual emphasis on The Way Radio Was.

**My audiences have told me that the music from 50 to 70 years ago often triggers a certain consciousness in those with memory impairment. I can also provide a special, shorter program for those with memory loss.

Read recent testimonials of The Way Radio Was:

“Dear Pam, I want to let you know how much my residents loved Dick Karman’s performance on The Way Radio Was. He is full of historical tidbits and trivia. We all learned so much! He keeps the audience riveted with music, news, and commercials. He presented an impressive display of old-time radios, microphones, and equipment. I recommend his show and we are all excited to have him back here at Hawthorne Gardens! Sincerely, Tracy A.”

“The Chairman of the Program Committee of Retired Associates of Portland State University (RAPSU) asked me to tell you how satisfied our members were with Dick Karman’s “Radio Man” presentation. He was a big hit with the members and will be asked back soon!” Bill D.

“I wanted to let you know we had Dick Karman do his “Reliving Radio” Show yesterday and our residents really enjoyed reminiscing about the old radio programs, ads and songs – he brought many smiles to their faces. He was very professional, sounding like an old-time radio announcer, and flowed from one thing to the next. Talking to him afterwards, I found out he has many other programs, including background music for dinners, etc. and we will definitely be having him back. Thank you,” Shirley A. at Hearthstone at Murrayhill
