NEW LISTINGS<br />
**Just listed! Some of you may already know Elmira Joseph, a</p>
<p>professional pianist and teacher with 30 years experience including MANY</p>
<p>performances for seniors at local assisted living, retirement facilities</p>
<p>and hospitals. Although Elmira specializes in classical music, she is very</p>
<p>versatile&#8211;she also plays popular tunes, music from old movies, romantic</p>
<p>&#8220;candlelight&#8221; music, as well as tunes for holidays such as Christmas and</p>
<p>Thanksgiving. Check out Elmira&#8217;s listing under the Music, Music-Classical,</p>
<p>or Holidays categories and contact her to entertain at your facility or</p>
<p>event!<br />
**Finally, a Magician! ElderAudience has just listed Brian Proctor, a very</p>
<p>popular &#8220;close-up, strolling sleight of hand magician&#8221; who loves</p>
<p>performing at local facilities and events. Brian has been practicing the</p>

NEW COMMUNICATION GROUP FOR ACTIVITIES DIRECTORS!<br />
**ATTENTION ALL ACTIVITIES DIRECTORS! New Yahoo group starting for Senior</p>
<p>Activities Directors in the Portland/Vancouver area! Michele at Courtyard</p>
<p>Village contacted me with a question, and we both thought such a group</p>
<p>would be useful. I believe a similar one was started in 2006 (PDX-ADFS)</p>
<p>but it appears to be inactive.To join, go to this address on the web:</p>

<p>already. Feel free to use this forum in addition if you like! May this</p>
<p>Yahoo group serve as a tool for activities directors to strengthen their</p>
<p>communication with peers at other facilities and devise exciting and fun</p>
<p>ways to work together for the benefit of seniors!</p>
<p>UPCOMING EVENTS!</p>
<p>**Chocolate ahead!!! World Forestry Center, listed on ElderAudience under</p>
<p>Outings and Education/Instruction, is hosting an even bigger Chocolate</p>
<p>Festival this year (its 5th), Fri 1/29 from 6-9 pm as well as Sat 1/30 and</p>
<p>Sun 1/31 from 10am -5pm. Preview the Center&#8217;s newest exhibit, The</p>
<p>Chocolate Story, which opens January 30 and is on view through April 25.</p>
<p>The exhibit explores the history, production and consumption of chocolate!</p>

**Well Arts Institute&#8217;s Voices of Our Elders project presents &#8220;Everything</p>
<p>New Again is Old&#8221; as part of the Fertile Ground lunchtime series on 1/22,</p>
<p>1/26 and 1/31, all at 12:30. Tickets only $5! Location is Mezzanine in</p>
<p>Gerding Theatre at the Armory, 128 NW 11th Ave in downtown Portland. Boxed</p>

**ElderAudience listed Playwright and Author Sandra deHelen will</p>
<p>have the first half of her full length work &#8220;The Godmother&#8221; performed as a</p>
<p>staged reading on Saturday 1/23 at 12:30 pm, in the beautiful Gerding</p>
<p>Theatre Mezzanine (128 NW 11th Ave, downtown Portland.) Senior prices are</p>

<p>family has a young lesbian named Tomboy as their newly appointed boss, and</p>

**Reminder about another musical group: In Cahoots, which is a</p>
<p>fun, energetic women&#8217;s quartet that loves sharing their four-part a</p>
<p>capella harmonies &#8220;with whomever they can persuade to listen!&#8221; Kristine,</p>
<p>Becky, Donna and Suzy have a repertoire that includes Broadway, gospel,</p>
<p>holidays, and American standards from the 20&#8242;s up to today, often in</p>
<p>classic barbershop style. Performances can range in length from a couple</p>
<p>of songs&#8211;for that special birthday or anniversary&#8211;to an hour (including</p>
<p>an oldies sing-along) depending on your needs! Read about In Cahoots in</p>

**It&#8217;s been way a while since I mentioned the ElderAudience-listed</p>
<p>A Valentine Bridge Trio, who perform vocals with guitar  that will bring</p>
<p>back so many memories!! They play tunes from the 20&#8242;s to the 60&#8242;s,</p>
<p>including those by Irving Berlin and Lerner/Loewe, as well as songs made</p>
<p>famous by Al Jolson, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole</p>
<p>and Tony Bennett. How they describe themselves: &#8220;We tend to favor romantic</p>
<p>ballads that have a nice lifting musical bridge. That is how we got our</p>

**Have you had the pleasure of seeing and hearing the Puddin&#8217;</p>
<p>River Jazz band?? This ElderAudience-listed group of 7-8 musicians</p>
<p>performs &#8220;high energy&#8221; New Orleans dance style swing-type jazz, including</p>
<p>Swing, Blues, Boogie and Swamp Beat! They say of themselves: &#8220;We are</p>
<p>lively&#8211;not a quiet background band!&#8221; Puddin&#8217; River Jazz band makes great</p>

<p>**FREE STORYTELLING EVENT!Everyone enjoys a great story, and Master</p>
<p>Storyteller Anne Rutherford has been performing a lively program of</p>
<p>stories, songs and poems for seniors for ten years! Please read about her</p>

<p>presents TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED, sponsored by the SPOKEN WORD LECTURE</p>
