Activity Professionals & Dementia Practitioners

Oregon Activity Professionals and Oregon Dementia Practitioners (OAP-ODP) is a professional association with the sole purpose of providing professional growth and education for practitioners in the Activity Professional and dementia fields. They provide professional and advancement classes, trainings, and workshops for individuals working in the field and seeking information about the profession. OAP-ODP’s website and newsletters provide commentary, trends, new job openings, announcements, and concerns discussed in the scope of practice. Their mission is to further education, awareness, and benefits of good practices, best methods, and positive outcomes of the activity and dementia professionals. Their focus is to inform and connect with dedicated professionals in the Oregon and NW California territories, and provide avenues of communication with the nation associations- like the NCCAP (National Association of Activity Professionals’ Credentialing Center; The NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, and the NCCDP (National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners). OAP-ODP shares that it is pleasure to honor and acknowledge professionals who have achieved outstanding and valuable work and deeds that advance and improve professions in the field.



ACTIVITY DIRECTOR STATE CERTIFICATION CLASS on August 1, 2 and 3, from 8:30 to 5:00 each day. This is private training class, please contact instructor at 503-740-9706 for special permission to enter this class. Current seating is full. In class lecture, videos and demonstrations; students must past test by 70% or better and complete assignments in class for Oregon State Certification. Additional students will be accepted as openings occur.  Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.  Another class will be provided if wait list is 6 or more. 


ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND DEMENTIA CARE TRAINING on August 8th from 8:00 to 5:00 PM at Bonaventure in Tigard. This seminar is a path to certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioner. This is a required seminar for those pursuing CDP certifications and who qualify through NCCDP. THIS CLASS IS BEING OFFERED AT AN INTRODUCTORY COST OF 120.00 (a reduced rate of the original cost of 189.00 for future classes). This is the last class at this price. This class will prepare you for the Dementia Focused Surveys and meets the requirement for CMS questions 8b, 8c, 9, 10,a and 10e.  Administrators, Activity Professionals, Social Service, Therapists and Nursing Staff are encouraged to attend to gain the education you need to meet the new Dementia Focus Surveys.  This class will give you 8 hour of CEU credits in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care for Activity Professionals, Social Service and Administrators.  Successful attendees will be able to apply to the NCCDP for their National Certification if they qualify.  If you have question(s) please contact at 503-740-9706. Many facilities in LTC are asking Activity Professionals to also have Dementia Care Training.  Class covers 10 essential areas of dementia knowledge and skill sets to meet this standard. Textbook provided.  This is a required class that leads to  pathway to certification thru the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners if you quality. This Dementia Care Training covers 10 essential areas of dementia knowledge and skill sets to meet the standards.
