Mtn Peaks Therapy Llamas & Alpacas- Animal-Assisted Therapy Visits

Mtn Peaks Therapy Llamas & Alpacas is a faith-based non-profit organization that takes their llamas and alpacas inside assisted living communities, memory care and rehabilitation facilities, schools, as well as hospitals. Run by Lori Gregory and her daughter, Shannon Joy, they have completed over 1,500 therapeutic and educational visits throughout the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area touching the lives of over 10,000 people each year.

Therapy visits last anywhere from one to one and a half hours. Everyone is fully engaged when a llama is present. Lori and Shannon hand out carrots to allow everyone the chance to feed with their hands, or even place in their lips for a special “carrot kiss”- sure to light the room up with laughter and smiles!

Using such unique animals for therapy, Mtn Peaks has been featured in many news and media outlets such as Oprah’s “O” Magazine, NatGeo Wild, CNN, HuffPost Live, and many more including Llama Nation: the Documentary.
