Mission Mill Museum-Salem, Oregon
The Mission Mill Museum in Salem preserves and shares the history of the 1834 Oregon Methodist Mission, 1843 Oregon Pioneers and the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, which produced wool products from 1889 to 1962.The Mill has been designated an American Treasure by the National Park Service! On your visit you will see preserved Mission houses, an Oregon Trail settler’s house, a historic church and the structures, equipment, and original water-powered turbine of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill with related artifacts. There’s always something new to see at Mission Mill Museum! Exhibits change frequently, ranging from those locally prepared to ones that tour nationally! Come see the “Facing Statehood” exhibition, which celebrates Oregon’s sesquicentennial, and interprets the pre-statehood years of Oregon.
Guided tours (individual and group) by pre-arrangement.
We are always looking for interested volunteers to help run the museum, too!
Please see our website for more information on exhibits, speakers, hands-on activities, special events, the museum store, and more. Make time for scrumptious tea or lunch at the Mission Mill Cafe!
