Mick Doherty- Musical Performances with Hammer Dulcimer!

Mick Doherty (hammer dulcimer, guitar) is a musician known in the U.S. as a hammer dulcimer specialist, an instrument for which he teaches private lessons and festival workshops.

Mick’s performances with the dulcimer are friendly, personable (and funny!) and feature lively jigs and reels, as well as beautiful slow airs and waltzes.

Mick has performed across the United States and in Canada, Europe and Japan. In the Northwest he performs solo as well as in ensemble, and is happy to play for audiences of any size. When not playing music with friends, Mick works as musician and storyteller with shadow puppeteer Deb Chase and the Oregon Shadow Theatre, touring award winning shadow plays in the U.S. and Canada.  He organizes an annual festival for hammer dulcimer players, and teaches music.
