Store to Door–Volunteer Opportunities

Store to Door, a non-profit agency, facilitates independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing a low-cost, personalized grocery shopping and delivery service. Volunteers are the backbone of Store to Door. Although they range from teens to people well into their 80′s, volunteers have one thing in common: a desire to assist neighbors who need a little extra help. All it takes is a couple of hours a week to either take orders, shop or deliver. Currently, Store to Door especially needs people to make deliveries on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and we always need order takers and shoppers.

Milwaukie Center Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities galore at the Milwaukie Center! More than 75 different jobs, from clerical to Meals on Wheels, to leading groups to serving on boards or committees, and MUCH more. The Milwaukie Center opened in January, 1980. This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary as a resource for older adults and their families in North Clackamas County. The Center is well-used by the entire community. We offer a wide array of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the community. Programs and services span weekdays, evenings and weekends. Annually, over 800 volunteers help make a difference providing more than 75,000 hours of service through the Milwaukie Center.

The Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill-Salem, Oregon

The Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill in Salem preserves and shares the history of the 1834 Oregon Methodist Mission, 1843 Oregon Pioneers and the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, which produced wool products from 1889 to 1962.The Mill has been designated an American Treasure by the National Park Service! On your visit you will see preserved Mission houses, an Oregon Trail settler’s house, a historic church and the structures, equipment, and original water-powered turbine of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill with related artifacts. There’s always something new to see at the Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill! Exhibits change frequently, ranging from those locally prepared to ones that tour nationally!

Guided tours (individual and group) by pre-arrangement.

We are always looking for interested volunteers to help run the Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill, too!

Portland Memory Garden

Explore the lovely Portland Memory Garden, dedicated to sharing the beauty of nature with those who suffer from memory disorders as well as with their care-givers. This free, secure community resource for respite, recreation, and inspiration is open to all, though it is especially intended for people with memory loss and their care-givers. We also need volunteers, so please contact us!

Open between 8 a.m. and dusk year-round, the Portland Memory garden is located in Ed Benedict Park at SE 104th between Powell Blvd. and Bush Street. With a secure enclosure, it includes accessible pathways, picnic table, benches and restroom. Photo credit: Al Vose.
