Called “the world’s reigning male chorus” by The New Yorker, the Grammy award-winning ensemble Chanticleer will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2018. Chanticleer is known for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from soprano to bass, and its original interpretations of vocal literature.

“Tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity.”  San Francisco Chronicle

Program:

“Soldier” This program will feature early music of war and peace from Byrd, Tomkins, Janequin, and Dufay. Stirring martial music from Russia includes works by Glinka and traditional songs sung by ordinary soldiers. Contemporary works are contributed by Mason Bates, John Musto, and Jennifer Higdon, along with lighthearted music from the home front.

The Love Show — The Portlanders feature love songs in this Valentine’s concert.   Kate Power, Kevin Shay Johnson, Steve Einhorn and Mick Doherty will be joined by special guests Pete Krebs and Andrew James. Guitar, ukulele, banjo, hammer dulcimer, string bass and drums with strong voices and good hearts.
