Greetings from Pam at ElderAudience! As it pours on this Saturday
afternoon, I am happy to bring you news of a LOT of new listings and
events:
**World Forestry Center Discovery Museum Welcomes Teachers and Veterans
For Free on November 11! As a way to show appreciation for hard working
veterans and teachers, the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum is
offering free admission to active and non active military personnel and
teachers, along with their immediate families, on Veterans’ Day, November
11. The museum will be open from 10am to 5pm. Visitors can enjoy the
multitude of hands-on exhibits the Discovery Museum has to offer as well
as see their newest exhibit, Coffee: The World In Your Cup, that explores
the fascinating journey of bean to cup of the world’s most popular drink.
**Another FREE event at the World Forestry Center: Dr. Yu-jen Lin speaks
on the Forests of Taiwan, on Wednesday 11/11 from 4-5pm in the Forestry
Center’s Discovery Museum, Mt. Hood Room. FREE if you RSVP in advance to
cbennett@worldforestry.org or call (503)488-2137.Or, Admission $8 at the
door.
**PSU RAPSU (Retired Associates of Portland State University) NOVEMBER
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS–The meetings are in Smith Hall Multicultural Center,
Room 228. Receptions are from 12:30 – 12:50 PM. Announcements from 12:50
to 1:00 PM Programs 1 – 2 PM. THURSDAY NOVEMBER 12, 2009 –PSU Professor
Keith Walters: Immigration and bilingualism in the U.S.: Problems,
challenges, and opportunities.Professor Walters, a 1975 graduate of Furman
University, received an MA in linguistic from the University of South
Carolina and a PhD in linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin.
He has been a Professor in the Department of Applied Linguistics at PSU
since 2006 and is currently Chairman of the department. LEARN MORE ABOUT

**OASIS in downtown Portland announces Saturday classes: Sat. 11/14 at
10:30-12:30. Class #404 topic is Shakespeare’s King Lear ($12); and Class

**Uncle Yascha, ElderAudience listed Musician/songwriter and Storyteller,
will be appearing Friday, Nov. 20, 7:00 PM at Artichoke Music Friday Night
Coffee House, at 3130 SE Hawthorne. Several performers will play half hour
sets starting at 7:00 and Uncle Yascha will play at 9:00. If you’ve never
been in Artichoke’s back room, it’s one of the world’s finest performance
spaces. There’s a $5 donation at the door.
**Oregon Health Care Foundations’s Senior Wish Training Session

The Senior Wish Training Session, sponsored by the Oregon Health Care
Foundation, provides the model for developing the Senior Wish Program in LTC
communities and inspires attendees through a motivating video featuring
senior wishes. Attendees come away not only excited to make wishes come
true in their community, but also with the tools to make them happen.
This introductory class is appropriate for activity & life enrichment
directors, marketing/community relations directors, administrators,
nursing staff, dietary managers, social services directors, and family
members.
This training program is underwritten by OHCF, so there is NO COST to
attendees. All attendees are eligible to earn Continuing Education Units
for this course.

**Newly listed musician Matt Meighan describes himself as a “warm,
engaging songwriter, guitar player and singer”. He has a long history
playing Traditional and original folk music, and has performed throughout
the world. Check out Matt’s listing under Music and have him play at your
facility or event!
**Historians in our own backyard…we have just listed the Sons and
Daughters of Oregon Pioneers, represented by “The Boone Sisters” Janet
Boone McGarrigle and Carolyn Boone Grenfell. They, along with their cousin
and family historian Arlene Curry Buschert present some fascinating
history of early Oregon and the families who traveled the famous Oregon
Trail! Read more about the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers under
Speakers, and contact them to schedule a presentation. There is no charge,
but they do accept donations for the organization.
**Valentine Bridge Trio is a newly listed musical group, comprised of a
singer and guitars, who perform tunes from the 20′s to the 60′s– songs
made famous by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole, and Tony Bennett.

your facility or event!
**ElderAudience now has Cowboys! Newly listed Cowboy Kevin (aka Kevin
Neil) has been entertaining seniors for the past fourteen years as the top
rated act on several cruise ships. He is now available to perform at your

**More new dancers! Scottish Country Dance Society, Portland Branch will
travel to your facility or event to demonstrate the social dancing of
Scotland, accompanied by fiddle and guitar. Learn more about them under

**Longtime musician Dom Franco has just become listed! Dom plays the Steel
guitar and sings, and his repertoire includes hundreds of songs from the
30′s-60′s in a variety of styles. Dom performs at facilities for NO
CHARGE, accepting donations for a charity. Read more about Dom under
