1-8-10 e mail update for seniors and senior facilities

Greetings from Pam at ElderAudience! I have accumulated quite a lot of

news in the last week or so. Here you go:
NEW LISTINGS
**Just listed! Some of you may already know Elmira Joseph, a

professional pianist and teacher with 30 years experience including MANY

performances for seniors at local assisted living, retirement facilities

and hospitals. Although Elmira specializes in classical music, she is very

versatile–she also plays popular tunes, music from old movies, romantic

“candlelight” music, as well as tunes for holidays such as Christmas and

Thanksgiving. Check out Elmira’s listing under the Music, Music-Classical,

or Holidays categories and contact her to entertain at your facility or

event!
**Finally, a Magician! ElderAudience has just listed Brian Proctor, a very

popular “close-up, strolling sleight of hand magician” who loves

performing at local facilities and events. Brian has been practicing the

art of magic for 18 years.Check him out under the Novelty or Miscellaneous

categories on ElderAudience!
NEW COMMUNICATION GROUP FOR ACTIVITIES DIRECTORS!
**ATTENTION ALL ACTIVITIES DIRECTORS! New Yahoo group starting for Senior

Activities Directors in the Portland/Vancouver area! Michele at Courtyard

Village contacted me with a question, and we both thought such a group

would be useful. I believe a similar one was started in 2006 (PDX-ADFS)

but it appears to be inactive. To join, go to this address on the web:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PortlandVancouverSeniorActivitiesDirectors/

(sorry, it’s long, I know)This group is a central place for activities

directors to exchange ideas and collaborate on activities of mutual

interest. Less formal groups (or even other official ones) may exist

already. Feel free to use this forum in addition if you like! May this

Yahoo group serve as a tool for activities directors to strengthen their

communication with peers at other facilities and devise exciting and fun

ways to work together for the benefit of seniors!
